The ceremonial number one student of Benue state University, Mr BSU, Sunday Freeman has expressed sadness over his inability to hand his crown over before he graduated.
Sunday Freeman, a fresh graduate of English, stated in an interview with Ahika Joshua (for BaydorzBlogng) that this is the first time an incumbent Mr/Miss BSU would graduate without handing their crowns over to successors.

The contest which was to have been held in the first semester of 2016/2017 academic session could not hold as a result of a three (3) months strike embarked upon by the university which disrupted the academic calendar.

As reported, when all was set for the contest to hold in second semester, the school management issued a ban on shows in the school due to security challenges & other issues bordering on general misconduct by the students.

Mr BSU, while expressing his concerns said, though the ban was intended to be in the best interest of the students safety, putting an end to school shows would weaken the social life of the school; an attribute Benue state university is revered for by other neighboring universities.

He further implored the school management to revisit the issue and lift the ban as well as look for other alternatives to curtailing the security issues that resulted to the ban in the first place. Aside the Mr/Miss BSU contest, others which could not be held includes, Mr/Miss Fresher BSU, Mr/Miss Health BSU, Mr/Miss Corporate BSU as well as other departmental shows.
